Splinter{Labs}
I'm the originator, and current benevolent dictator for Splinter{Labs} which is an evolving not-for-profit organization that is meant to incubate fun and awesome projects, both big and small, that could possibly spin off into for-profits, and/or just possibly make someone's day. Splinter{Labs} is about living a lifestyle of social entrepreneurship, collaboration, and lifelong learning with other people who have similar interests and diverse skillsets.
It is also an experiment in community building and brand marketing (which could totally be reframed as an experiment in online intentional community building and cult recruitment) that brings people together with the specific purpose of creating things that bridge art, technology, people, business, form, function, and meaning.
Splinter{Labs} will be the umbrella from which all my future projects will stem, and if constructed correctly, it will also serve as an umbrella for others who share a drive to create and a taste for the brand of kool-aid we brew (our cultural quirkiness.)
For more, visit Splinter{Labs} and read the FAQ.
If in the future any of my sub-projects within Splinter{Labs} become major projects, I will add them to this page.
Social Mindfulness
This is a group blog project I've had in my mind for quite awhile, but have yet to find the time to devote to it. My intention is to explore the buddhist idea of social mindfulness in this age of hyper-connectedness and social information overload.
While I consider this an inactive project, one of those that is perpetually in the future, I do own the .net, .com and .org domains for socialmindfulness and would wholeheartedly pass them on to someone who expresses interest in seriously exploring these ideas. If the buddhist idea of 'social mindfulness' is of interest to you in any way, let me know so we can begin some form dialogue!
